With a 2020 and 2021 exam season dominated by unorthodox measures and exam protocols due to the worldwide pandemic, 2022 was the first year of what reflected a return to normal exam season. Even then, Covid-19 was still a strong memory, with the beginning of the 21-22 academic year commencing under the cloud of the pandemic.

It is largely expected that as a result, this years exam results will see a fall in students achieving A*- B grades, now that generous remote marking, moderation and the dreaded post code experiment have been filed to the pages of history. With this in mind, and the fact that most universities have maintained or even increased their entrance requirements for undergraduate courses, competition for clearing places this summer will be stiffer than ever.
